I would go and see an audiologist so you can have your specific case evaluated. A Hearing Aid may help you, especially since you have hearing loss, but there may be a different treatment that would work better.

there have been so many advances in hearing aid technology that they are very easy to forget they are there. in fact, a player for the seattle mariners’ minor league AAA affiliate even has hearing aids in both ears because of his troubles, but is completely functional. as for how often the batteries must be changed, i’m unfamiliar, but you should have no worries about getting used to them or looking awkward in public.

i have hearing aids. and it does not effect the tinnitus in any way.

I’m pleased that you are going to see an audiologist. Hopefully he or she will examine your ears and test your hearing. What happens next, after your tests, will very much depend on what your hearing tests show.

If the tests show that you have a hearing loss your audiologist should discuss what impact your hearing loss has in the different aspects of your everyday life, such as the impact on your job, your home and social life and so on.This will help both you and your audiologist find solutions to manage your hearing loss and tinnitus. This should include discussing how wearing hearing aids might help you, if they are consider to be part of the solution.

If you find out that you have a hearing loss and are then going to wear hearing aids, find out if you can be referred to a hearing therapist. A hearing therapist will help you to adjust to wearing hearing aids, give you advice on learning to lip read and other adjustments that will benefitt you in your day to day.

If you do get hearing aids you will probably find that they help you in managing your tinnitus as well.

    Hearing aids for tinnitus.?
My Doctor says the hearing aids are 6,000.00 a set. and the will diminish The amount of ringing I hear, I have loud ringing with a swishing noise due to a truck falling on me. Does anyone know of any free samples I can acquire too see these will in fact work?

Are hearing aids hard to get used to?
My hearing has been going down for years. It has gotten to the point where I can barely hear women and children talking. To make matters worse, I have started developing tinnitus :( .

Anyways, are hearing aids hard to get used to? How often do you have to replace the batteries?

I am supposed to see an audiologist soon. I just wanted to be prepared.

Will a hearing aid make tinnitus worse? Or better?
My mother has tinnitus and she needs a hearing aid in the near future but she is reluctant because she thinks it might make the tinnitus worse. I think it might make it better because tinnitus is not an outside sound. Any experiences with this?

tinnitus / loss / hearing aids?
Hi there I have had tinnitus for the last 5 months, i am 30, and I am in good health.
I have had eczema in my ears for 10yrs+ and they need to be syringed 2 -3 times a year. i had gotten 2 quite serious infections some years ago also.
In november they got quite blocked and ringing very loudly. I had them syringed and the R one cleared almost straight away. However the L ear canal was very red and sore and the doctor advised i return the following week. I did that and he said all looked fine, however the tinnitus was still there.
I just learned to live with it up until about 3 weeks ago. It has gotten much louder and i feel maybe my hearing in the L ear has been affected, although it is hard to tell, with the very loud ringing. It is constant but if i am surrounded by noise i dont notice it so much.
I have an apt in 1 month with Audiologist, but would like to hear your personal opinions
Will i need to wear hearing aids for this? and will i wear in both ears, even thouth the tinnitus is in 1( a friend said that she thought i wud need 2 as they work together??)
    Thanks in advance

Not many places give free samples of medical devices.

You can however, try this hearing aid site with a commitment to pay IF you aren’t satisfied and return it within 30 days. I have no idea of the reliability of the product nor of the ethical behavior of the company but here’s the link:
    https://www.buybionicear.com/?gclid=CNfY8Ly4450CFQYMDQod4W3xCg

I’m sure that you have read what you can about other forms of treatment for tinnitus but just in case, here is a comprehensive hearing site:
    http://www.hearingaids1000.com/resources/Treatment-and-Management-of-Tinnitus.shtml
You will find lots of information about hearing aids at the site as well. Do read about supplements you can try.

The answer to your question about whether this will work for you is maybe. That is because tinnitus has a number of causative factors and may suddenly abate on its own. But you can read more about that here where they report that 6/10 people found some relief and 2/10 found major relief.
    http://www.highlineaudiology.com/2009/03/08/hearing-aids-offer-hope-for-tinnitus-sufferers/

I do have a question, if a truck fell on you, was this accident not covered by some insurance?

Please note that different hearing aids work in slightly different ways for different hearing problems. Please check the links provided.

Good luck with this – I hate tinnitus – I’d rather have pain.

    Addendum:
Oops – just checked for scams because something did’t feel right about the Lee Majors bionic ear and you’d better take a look at this item from the Ripoff Report:
    http://www.ripoffreport.com/Miscellaneous-Electronics/LEE-MAJORS-BIONIC-HE/bionic-hearing-aid-lee-majors-cd64a.htm

So I opened the Songbird link and found that you can get a free trial – and they do seem to be reputable:
    http://www.songbirdhearing.com/index-2.html?site=www.songbirdhear.com
While it isn’t as pretty or easy to wear – you can cancel and you can get an idea about whether a discreet and more expensive hearing aid is in your future.
By the way – my husband has tried these and found that they do help but they are kind of awkward to wear. They are a reasonably priced product for a trial. And if it doesn’t work…

Which puts things back to square one. However, you might try the SongBIrd – find out that a hearing aid might not or might help and go from there.

Hearing aids come in several price ranges actually – you might not be in for that much $,$$$ but you need to be sure to check the references and better business records of any store from which you finally make that kind of purchase. Read all of the fine print too.

Have you tried any of the hearing aid places in your area? That is the logical first place to check – not for freebies but for a chance to find out if it will help – there are several price levels and you don’t have to pay $6K necessarily.

  11. Is this the sound when you have tittinus? Because , I think i have tittinus. But I get this sound rarely. please reply!!

I have worn 2x oticon CIE aids for ten years – no complaints and great service – free!It seems an increasing number of people are ignoring health warnings about caring for their ears and hearing. It was after a careless diving accident I ended up with two hearing aids and tinnitus. I wear the aids 24/7. I learned to control the tinnitus and consider myself tinnitus free most of the time. I created a website to help others in need of tinnitus relief. Here’s a link if you want a visit Tinnitus Relief at Best wishes to all.Miles Hartley.

Your neck muscles go to the top of your head, passing just inside of the ears. When the neck muscles are tight they can press onto the nerves going to your ears to cause pain and/or hearing loss. If your neck muscles are tight on one side the problem can be on that side, or both, depending upon what happened to tighten the muscles up. A slight chill in the air can cause the exposed muscle up and not the one you are laying on or you can pinch the side you are laying on and not the other, all kinds of ways for that to happen. To get rid of the pain is different, only one way that I have found, by freeing the muscles back up. Here's how to do that:
    Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about one minute, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

This is what happens when you go really far into meditation/trance. It has happened to me before. If it scares you, take a break from meditating for a while. It will calm down eventually.

Let me get this straight… You are KNOWINGLY dating a girl who has a boyfriend, whom she claims to "love", and you're cool with that? And now you're wondering why she's distant?
She is probably very stressed out, wondering why she has gotten herself into this mess, and torn between her old boyfriend and the new dude who has just come prancing in and swept her off her feet. If she can't be loyal to her old boyfriend or make up her mind about her feelings and dump him, what do you think is going to happen if you and her get serious?

Like I said, she's probably wondering how she got herself into this mess. I'd let her know she can tell you anything, and that you'll understand, if you're that keen on sticking with her.
